At the regular meeting of the Weaverville Fire Protection District on April 5, 2016, the Board members were presented with an honorable gift by Bob Winkler. Bob granted the Fire Museum, located at Weaverville Fire Department, the gift of a book his father, J.F. Winkler, owned and used throughout his career; ‘The 1926 Automobile Fire Apparatus Operator’. This book is important to the Weaverville Fire Department because it contains information, advice, and assistance with operations of fire apparatus before 1926; including Weaverville Fire Department’s 1917 La France.
Bob Winkler has spent his entire career life in the firefighting field. He retired from Junction City Fire Department as Chief in 2006, and just retired in April of 2016 from the Junction City Fire Department Board of Directors. The Weaverville Fire Protection Fire District considers this gift an honor, and would like to thank Bob Winkler for his generous donation to the museum.
